About the band
Stomp the gas pedal for a post-apocalyptic road trip unlike any other!
The Surf Hermits are masters of hard driving guitar-forward instrumental surf and spaghetti western. Never a band to simply duplicate the traditions of the past, the latest Surf Hermits release, Road Trip continues the progression of their debut EP “Hang Zen” and followup LP “Showdown” into the future with a post apocalyptic vision of things to come.
The visual story that started with an ink sketch on the cover of “Hang Zen” and a beachside rumble on the cover of “Showdown”, now explodes into a furious chase across a post-apocalyptic landscape on the cover of Road Trip. Musically, Road Trip blows up the wasteland with a road trip for the ages! Hotrods, motorcycles, and a desperate chase under the bloated sun of a dying world. Will our erstwhile monk escape to peacefully surf again, or will the gang catch up and learn a deadly lesson written in fire, steel and blood?
The Surf Hermits are the up and coming surf band to watch, as they continue to pump out energetic guitar instrumental music with a melodic surf sound. Hailing from Canada, home of the frozen waves, The Surf Hermits are an unstoppable force in the surf scene, appearing on many compilations, providing theme music for popular youtube channels, and even providing runway music for Vegas fashion shows.
Press and reviews:
"From the groove fueled intro chords of Ursa Major to the infectious melody of Speaking with Ghosts, this new album by The Surf Hermits is a killer trip! Favorite track: Mountains Of Madness."
"So much fun! The Surf Hermits are where it's at!!"
"Very cool album! Melodies are great and it is really like a road trip, it contains songs for every mood on a travel. My favourite song when waves collide is a nice surfy song to drive by, on a car, on a motorbike, and even better on a wave! Favorite track: When Waves Collide."
“Canada’s The Surf Hermits impressed mightily with their debut album Hang Zen…and luckily we didn’t have to wait too long for their second, Showdown. Jason’s guitar displays plenty of bite without losing any of his melodic feel and the strong rhythm guitar work…” Pipeline Magazine
“One of the best albums you will hear this year, if not the best. The Surf Hermits lift pure surf to a different playing level and are leaving everyone else behind, far behind.” Fan review
“What an amazing album! It contains tons of surfy tones mixed with energy to do a new surf music style. Catchy melodies and more. You will never regret to buy this!” Fan review
"...with this new full-length, the band has upped their game, delivering an album with a great variety of modern surf tunes that feature outstanding playing...fun and memorable songs, and spot-on production. ...Overall, this is an excellent album, and as a debut full-length album for the band is quite an achievement." Continental Magazine review of Showdown
“This is an instrumental guitar album to treasure...with a great driving beat, some excellent arrangements, with just a touch of distortion on the lead guitar to give it an edge. The mighty rhythm playing and that deep bass sound complete a package that is highly recommended to all Instrumental fans.” Review of Hang Zen by Pipeline Instrumental Review
“The Surf Hermits sound is rough, turbulent and stormy…with plenty of twang and reverb… making this a disc worth adding to your collection.” Review of Hang Zen by Continental Magazine
“These guys are godhead, they should be on the radio all the time!” Mike Rogers Show, Japan
